Resident Assistant (RA) – The RA is an Oglethorpe University undergraduate student who serves as a member of the Residence Life staff and is directly supervised by a RLC/AD. RAs assess and meet the needs of approximately 50 residents through daily interactions and have four major areas of responsibility: leadership, communication, administrative, and community building. General job duties include implementing Residential Curriculum, performing administrative duties, serving as the RA on duty, being present in the area even if not on duty, assisting with resident and building security procedures, attending training and in-services, following emergency protocols, enforcing university policies and serving as both a resource and role model to residents. As a student employee of Oglethorpe University, an RA is required to abide by and uphold the Oglethorpe University Bulletin, the Oglethorpe University Community Living Guide, and applicable law.

Minimum Qualifications
- Have and maintain a 2.70 Cumulative Grade Point Average
- Be enrolled as a full time student
- Have one semester of on-campus living experience
- Attain sophomore standing at the time of appointment
- Be in good academic, judicial, and financial standing with Oglethorpe University
- Participate in fall training and spring training
- Attend weekly staff meetings and in-service training on Mondays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
